Focus Counselling Services (Hull) Limited has been the premier provider of therapeutic interventions within Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire for over 15 Years. Over this time Focus has developed a great understanding of how to meet the needs of different individuals. By listening to a clients’ story’s and experiences we are able to construct a tailored support package for them, and in partnership with CHCP CIC we aim to help all clients achieve their goals.
Focus has built its excellent reputation on the clinical expertise it offers. Each of our therapists are qualified to a minimum of degree or diploma level, and have at least three years post qualification experience.
All therapists are registered or accredited with an appropriate professional body, these include, but are not limited to, BACP, UKCP and BABCP.
Each practitioner is insured and maintains a constant professional development programme.

After assessment with the Let’s Talk service, if a client wishes to discuss any aspect of their care, or is interested to find out how Focus can help them, we are happy to discuss the options we are able to offer.
After your assessment Focus will receive a referral through via secure portal, this is usually on the same day as your assessment with a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner. Once this referral is received, Focus aims to contact clients within 24 hours.
At the first point of contact we will look to gain an understanding of what availability you have and how we can fit into your schedule. We like to have an idea of the days, times and locations that are most suitable for you. Once we have this information we will then look to match you with the therapist that is most suitable for your particular circumstances.
The referral allocation process takes into consideration assessment content, any stipulations that you might have made with regard to gender of therapist, and the areas of expertise that a particular therapist may have.
It will take no more than 7 calendar days from the point Focus receives your referral to your first face-to-face clinical session. However, this will be dependent on your stipulations, including holidays, working hours and other events we may need to consider. You will then be given a choice of appointments to choose from, and your first clinical session will be booked in, you then begin the therapy process.
From this point onwards your care and how you choose to use the sessions will be discussed and tailored to your circumstances. Care periods can last anywhere from several weeks, to a year. This time period is dependent upon how you and the therapist feel the work is progressing and we will keep you fully informed and included in these decisions.
Sessions will last for 1 hour, this is different to a ‘clinical hour’, which in some instances can be only 45 minutes. This is a full 60 minutes for you to spend face-to-face with your therapist.
Upon conclusion of your care, you will be asked to feedback any thoughts you may have about the service. We appreciate all feedback as it helps us improve the patient experience for future users.
